Affordable and fun flying at Jandakot Airport
When learning to fly through UFC, you get one hour of free aircraft hire for every five hours of your flying time accumulated in our aircraft.
University Flying Club members can learn to fly in our aircraft through the flying school, Air Australia, Jandakot. Contact Us for a familiarisation flight in our PiperSport.
Our PiperSport is the ideal aircraft for flying training. Marketed for ab initio training, its spacious cockpit and modern glass cockpit lay out make it comfortable and easy to fly.
A flying lesson in our PiperSport will cost aproximately $235 (inc GST) an hour plus landing fees (Made up of $100/hr for an instructor and aproximately 0.7hr of hire time in our aircraft).

Once a club member, our club instructor can guide you through the process and take you for your first flying lesson.
A PPL allows pilots fo fly with passangers anywhere in Australia, for non-commercial purposes. It is also the first step towards a Commercial Pilot Licence.
On average, a PPL will take 55 hours to complete (and 40 hours at a minimum) costing aproximately $10,000-14,000 in lessons, depending how frequently you fly and your level of skill. There are also other expenses, such as Aviation medical, theory examination fees, books, aviation security cards and licence fees.
1. Contact us to book you an introductory lesson with an Air Australia Instructor in VH-EZT, who will discuss your flying options with you
2. Obtain a SPL (Student Pilot Licence)-requires filling in a form and a small payment
3. Obtain a Medical Fitness certificate-by a DAME (designated aviation medical examiner). You instructor will provide you with a list.
4. Sit the Pre-Solo written exam (easy!)
5. Go on your first Solo flight - usually takes 15-20 hours to get to solo stage
6. Sit the Basic Aeronatical Knowledge exam
7. Sit the GFPT (General Flying Progress test)- this is an optional part of the PPL, but allows you to fly solo and carry passangers within a restricted area. Some student pilots stop at this level.
8. Learn to Navigate- you will be required to fly solo in navigation excercises
9. Pass the PPL test flight
